Online Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop between SBS and the Santa Cruz, Bolivia

On the evening of September 14, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop between Shanghai Business School and Santa Cruz, Bolivia was successfully held online. The workshop was hosted by Chen Wei, Vice Executive Dean of International Education College of SBS and deputy director of the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), with Li Lizhi, deputy director of the S &T Achievement Transformation Center and S&T Cooperation Department of the Administrative Committee of Suzhou Hi-Tech Park, and Hu Yiding, director of a well-known strategic consulting company and individual investor, attending and delivering keynote speeches. Guests attending the workshop included Lorena Salguero, Secretary General of Institutional Management of Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Eliana Peña, General Counsel of Santa Cruz; Joaquín Delgadillo, Director of the Technology and Innovation Division of Santa Cruz; Ruben Peña, President of the Statistical Institute Santa Cruz; Fernando Kuscevic, Dean of the School of Public Administration of Santa Cruz; Martin Zambrana, Director of the Santa Cruz Department of Education Management, José Urzagasti, Director of the Santa Cruz Department of Industry and Trade, and Andrés Valverde, Head of the Santa Cruz 4.0 Program.

Mr. Chen Wei pointed out that innovation and entrepreneurship is a topic of common concern for governments around the world. The Chinese government has attached great importance to it, and puts forward the strategic orientation of mass innovation and mass entrepreneurship. With the joint efforts of the government, society and individuals, China has better established a good innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and achieved remarkable results. He suggested that both sides of this Workshop had an in-depth exchange and discussion on each other’s basic situation of entrepreneurship and innovation, laying the foundation for future cooperation.

Ms. Li Lizhi comprehensively elaborated the importance of enterprise innovation incubation capability in combination with Kr Space and other cases from the aspects of innovation ecosystem, trend of China’s entrepreneurship incubation, characteristics of international entrepreneurship incubators, and the development direction of future incubators with the theme of Evolution of Entrepreneurship Incubation: From Co-working to Venture Capital Ecology. She hoped that by sharing China’s successful experience in the field of business incubation, the level of science and innovation and business incubation capacity can be improved for Bolivia. 

Speech by Ms. Li Lizhi

Mr. Hu Yiding shared his experience in one-stop precision investment attraction ecosystem, promoting the efficient introduction of high-quality enterprises and stimulating the local economy with the theme of “Technological Innovation for Better Government’s Industrial Investment Attraction”. He hopes that his valuable experience in big data-based investment attraction ecology with actual cases can be shared to help the successful implementation of the Santa Cruz 4.0 program in Bolivia. 

Speech by Mr. Hu Yiding

In the interactive session, Ruben Peña, President of the Statistical Institute Santa Cruz, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Shanghai Business School for holding this Workshop, and exchanged in-depth views with the participating experts on a series of issues, such as the site selection for Santa Cruz Technology Park. He hoped that with this opportunity, the two sides can carry out more sustainable inter-institutional cooperation to enhance the establishment of Santa Cruz’s ability of innovation, development and technology applications. 

The Exchange Session

This Workshop was conceived in response to the need of Ruben Peña to integrate foreign parties in the Santa Cruz 4.0 program, which aims to improve the local science and innovation level and business incubation capacity, seek international cooperation, and provide theoretical guidance for local young entrepreneurs, scientific research project cooperation, consultations for the government, etc. Ruben Peña participated in the Seminar on Science and Technology Innovation for Latin American Countries sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and undertaken by the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), from June 29 to July 19 of this year.
